ITS, a provider of information technology and engineering solutions to the U.S. government, announced today that its Arlington-based LEADS Business Unit has been awarded an acquisition support services contract by the U.S. Department of the Interior's GovWorks Federal Acquisition Center. The IDIQ contract, which includes a base year with four option periods, has a maximum order threshold of $100 million, and will be managed out of ITS LEADS' Acquisition Management Division in Arlington, Va. Previously ITS LEADS held a multiple-award competitive BPA with GovWorks, which was awarded in 2004. The new IDIQ contract is the largest ever won by the division. "This effort reflects a true partnership with GovWorks and will assist their numerous Defense and Civilian Agency customers in fulfilling their acquisition needs," stated LEADS Senior Vice President Joe Tagliareni. Key tasks associated with this award include contract specialist support, procurement analyst support, acquisition administration support and acquisition quality control support. YRCI, located in Fairfax, Va., will aid ITS LEADS as a strategic teaming partner for recruiting acquisition candidates. "Our past performance, along with our quality personnel, proves, without a doubt, that we know how to work in the GovWorks environment," added Tagliareni. Ed Rinkavage, vice president of ITS LEADS' Acquisition Management Division, added that government and military are currently downsizing their procurement offices. Combine that with workforce attrition, Rinkavage says industry will have to step in and fill that acquisition void. "The government's contracting workforce has been downsized by more than 15 percent since 1991 while the procurement workload has doubled," says Rinkavage. "More and more, government and military depend on contractors, such as ITS LEADS, to meet their acquisition needs." ITS LEADS currently provides similar services in the Federal Communications Commission, the General Services Administration, and the Department of Agriculture.
